The total area of Taman Negara is 4,343 km².

Taman Negara encompasses three states, Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu, each with its own legislation. The Taman Negara Enactment (Pahang) No. 2 of 1939 is enforced in the state of Pahang, the Taman Negara Enactment (Kelantan) No. 14 of 1938 in the state of Kelantan and the Taman Negara Enactment (Terengganu) No. 6 of 1939 in the state of Terengganu. The enactments have similar contents.

Taman Negara Pahang is the largest at 2,477 km², followed by Taman Negara Kelantan at 1,043 km² and Taman Negara Terengganu at 853 km².

The park has been developed into a famous ecotourism destination in Malaysia. There are several geological and biological attractions in the park. Gunung Tahan is the highest point of the Malay Peninsula; climbers can use Kuala Tahan or Merapoh as their departure point. Taman Negara is the home of some rare mammals, such as the Indochinese Tiger, Sumatran Rhinoceros, Malayan Gaur (seladang) and Asian Elephant. Tahan River has been preserved to protect the Malaysian mahseer (ikan kelah in Malay), a type of game fish.

Others attractions found near Kuala Tahan (Park headquarters for Pahang) include a canopy walkway, Gua Telinga (cave system), Lata Berkoh (rapid). Visitors can enjoy the tropical rain forest, birdwatching or jungle trekking (e.g. Tenor Rentis) and the river views along the Tahan River.

beautiful Georgian town of Bath

Bath is a popular day trip destination for tourists. But a few hours trailing around the main museums or sitting on an open-top bus won't give you much more than a fleeting impression of the historic town. Bath is a unique destination with layers of historical associations and and a peaceful charm that is all its own, and to really appreciate the city you need to stay more than a few hours.

In fact, if you are planning a vacation to 'see' the UK, Bath could make a very good base. London is less than two hours away by train, so you can easily spend a couple of days exploring the hectic big city. And if you really want to see England, you'll find many of the country's different facets all within a short distance of Bath, from chocolate-box villages to historic harbours.
Bath facts

The brief facts: Bath is a city (population approx. 100,000) located in the south-west of England, not far from Bristol. The earliest documented inhabitants were the Romans, who indulged themselves in Bath's thermal springs (unique in the UK). Bath's second high-profile era was the eighteenth century, when the town was a hugely popular resort for royalty, aristocracy, gamblers and rakes. In between 'taking the waters' at the Pump Rooms, and attending colourful assemblies, Bath's Georgian tourists indulged in all manner of intrigues, and the kind of superficial lifestyle described by one-time resident Jane Austen.
What to see in Bath

In the eighteenth century Bath was re-designed as an outdoor showplace for Georgian society. Almost the entire town centre is a coherent and attractive map of honey-coloured limestone terraces. Among the town's architectural highlights are the curved and panoramic crescents, and Pulteney Bridge, where you can pause to shop while crossing the river Avon. Bath has several fascinating galleries and museums devoted to subjects ranging from the town's Roman past (a trip to the Roman Baths is unmissable) to the history of costume.
What to do in Bath

If you're tired of sightseeing, Bath offers a reasonable range of cultural and entertainment options. The Theatre Royal sees major touring productions, while there are several cinemas and plenty of good restaurants, pubs and cafes. There are festivals in Bath throughout the year, and plenty of outdoors summer events. The surrounding countryside offers excellent possibilities for days out and walks.

NAINITAL - THE PARADISE CITY

Nainital - Introduction

Need a break from the heat and the dust? Highlights of this romantic place are the monastery with its cloisters and the Romanesque-Gothic collegiate church, whose origins go back to the 12th century. The nature reserve is an Eldorado for walkers and cyclists.
St. Ursanne, along with Delémont and Porrentruy the third historic town in the canton of Jura, has a picturesque, mediaeval appearance, with three beautiful town gates. The historic centre has changed little over the centuries and is specially noted for its merchant’s houses from the 14th to the 16th centuries. The main feature is the former monastery founded by the Benedictine monks, with a Romanesque pillar basilica and cloisters. The south porch of the collegiate church (about 1200), in Burgundy Romanesque style, is one of the most important examples of this style in Switzerland.

The little River Doubs cuts deep into the Jura range, and then at St. Ursanne abruptly changes course to the west by 180°. There is an especially charming view of the romantic little town from the mediaeval bridge over the Doubs.

According to the legend, the holy man Ursicinus – an Irish monk – gave his name to this secluded corner. His hermitage in a cave can be reached by a steep flight of 180 steps. Only with the opening of the railway line, with its many tunnels, from Delémont to Porrentruy (1877) and on into France did St. Ursanne emerge from its long isolation.

Surrounded by a tight bend in the Doubs, an almost uninhabited ridge of hills called the Clos du Doubs, mostly covered in trees and very lonely, rises up to give fantastic views. The panorama extends from Belfort over the Vosges as far as the Freiberg mountains. The natural wilderness of the Clos du Doubs can be reached by footpaths and a mountain bike route that is even suitable for beginners. Many fishermen are drawn to the Doubs. People say that the best river trout are to be found in the Doubs. However, the lush river landscape round the Doubs is also popular with canoeists and kayakers. A very special experience is the four-day walk, nearly 80 km long, from St. Ursanne along the Doubs to Les Brenets or vice versa. Of course, it can also be done in separate day walks. At the end of each stage, post bus routes take you back up from the valley of the Doubs to the Jura plateau.
Highlights
Old Town and monastery – charming mediaeval town on the River Doubs with narrow alleyways, fine buildings and bridges and an imposing Romanesque-Gothic collegiate church with cloisters.
Nature reserve of Clos du Doubs – a mostly wooded ridge (917 m), surrounded by a loop in the River Doubs, with panoramic views over the Vosges as far as the Freiberg mountains.
Old mill at Soubey – the last in a whole series of mills along the Doubs. This restored mill dates from 1565 and still ground the corn from surrounding farms until 1968. It included a sawmill and also generated electricity.
Grottes de Réclère and Préhisto-Parc – impressive caves with stalactites and stalagmites, of European importance, 1.5 km of the cave system can be visited with a guide, and a Dinosaur Park on the evolution of the animal world.
Porrentruy – mediaeval little town dominated by an imposing castle, in the curve of the Jura in the Ajoie region.

Guggisberg Switzerland

The tiny Local History Museum in the village centre of Guggisberg is dedicated to the story of Vreneli. But Guggisberg offers much more. From bathing and barbecue fun on the banks of the River Sense (here the border to Fribourg) to equally as much pleasure on the panoramic terraces of traditional taverns, and well-signposted biking, cross-country skiing, walking and hiking tours. Offers are rounded off by a privately-run Farming Museum as well as horse trekking and horse-drawn carriage rides. Guggisberg (1115m) is particularly appealing when the sun shines on the sea of fog below.

Another folk song is almost as well known as the Vreneli song: «S'isch e länge Wäg ufs Guggershörnli» or «It’s a long way up to the Guggershorn». Actually it isn’t that far from Guggisberg to the Guggershörnli - but it is extremely steep. The hike to the 1283m summit takes a good hour. Allow equally as long to enjoy the panoramic views.

Also belonging to Guggisberg is Ottenleuebad, with its hotel/restaurant, group of holiday homes and a small skilift. Ottenleue is primarily one of the gateways to the Gantrisch cross-country ski region, with its scenic and very snow-sure pistes. Another small ski & cross-country ski area is found near the village of Riffenmatt.
Guggershorn (1283m) - the climb is richly rewarded with one of the most stunning panoramas in the Swiss Mittelland.
Vreneli ab em Guggisbärg - two-day hike along the banks of the Sense, through wetland forests and flower-filled meadows to Vreneli’s home, Guggisberg and the Guggershorn.
Gantrisch cross-country ski centre - spectacular views of the Gantrisch chain from a sunny yet snow-safe southern slop

Kerala Tourism

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 228px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_B27obrfBOI8/SR117t04wYI/AAAAAAAAAJQ/im8wy-X-JOY/s320/bckwaters.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5268496807867498882" />
Kerala - The God's own country is a narrow, fertile strip of land on the south-west coast of India. The name Keralam in Sanskrit means the land added on. But the popular version is that it means the land of Kera, the Coconut. According to legend, the land was a gift of Parasurama, one of the ten Avatars (incarnations) of Lord Vishnu. It is believed that Parasurama threw his battle-axe into the sea, reclaiming the landmass, Kerala. This state consists of 14 districts with Thiruvananthapuram as its capital

Kerala is immensely blessed by nature with lush vegetation, tranquil beaches, stunning mountains, hill station, wildlife and bird sanctuary, forts and palaces, pilgrim centres, festivals and has a network of 44 major rivers and lakes on the backwater system.

Some of the famous wildlife sanctuaries in Kerala(kerala tourism) are at Thekkady in Idduki, Parambikulam in Palakkad, Sultan Bathery in Wayand district etc. The Periyar National Park is Kerala's one of the best wild life sanctuaries.

Kerala has a fascinating heritage of art and culture. 'Kathakali', a rhythmic dance based on ancient epics and 'Kalarippayattu' the worlds oldest martial art are known all over the world. Kalarippayattu is said to be the origin of all other marital arts in this world. Tourist flock the shores of Kerala to learn these art. Some of the other art forms are 'Koothu', 'Koodiyattam', 'Mohiniyattam', 'Ottamthullal'

Kerala stands as an example for religious harmony. All the temples, churches, Mosque stand shoulder to shoulder that sometimes one fails to distinguish between them. All the festivals like Christmas, Ramzan, Onam, Diwali is celebrated here same pomp and gaiety. Another interesting example of religious harmony is celebration of Pooram festival at Thrissur. Malayalees from all over the world irrespective of religious sentiment reach this district to watch this festival. This festival is known for the elephant march and fire-crackers

One of the most memorable experience for the tourist visiting Kerala(Kerala Tourism) is the opportunity to enjoy the backwaters of Kerala on a house boat (Kettuvallam). The boats cross shallow palm -fringed lakes studded with cantilevered Chinese fishing nets and cruise along the narrow shady canals. On the way one can see the real Kerala village life. Alappuzha or Alleppey is an important tourist centre in Kerala because of its amazing backwaters. A number of boat races are conducted every year.

Even the Kerala cuisine is known for its spicy and hot foods. Traditionally, in Kerala food is served on a banana leaf. One has to take food with right hand. Almost every dish prepared in Kerala has coconut and spices to flavour the local cuisine giving it a sharp pungency that is heightened with the use of tamarind, while coconut gives it its richness, absorbing some of the tongue-teasing, pepper-hot flavours. Tender coconut water is a refreshing nutritious thirst quencher. The crunchy papadam, banana and jackfruit chips can give french-fries a run for their money any day.

Ayurveda, is a Sanskrit word, derived from two roots: Ayur, which means life, and Veda, means knowledge. Ayurveda medical system, Which was evolved in India, is around the 5,000 year old. Kerala's equable climate, natural abundance of forests (with a wealth of herbs and medicinal plants) and the cool monsoon season (Jun - Nov) are the best suited for Ayurveda's curative and restorative packages. Even today, Ayurveda is widely practiced in Kerala, due to its rich traditional heritage and medicinal herb found abundant around the Western Ghats There are a many renowned centres in Kerala

Today Kerala is the most advanced state in India wiht the highest literacy rate and the lowest birth rate. Kerala's forest's abundant and diverse habitat support a variety of wildlife population. They always welcome outsiders with open hands and heart. Hospitality is a part of Kerala culture and are the best host one can see in this world.

Jataluwih-From Bali

The proposed world heritage site of Jataluwih is truly one of Bali’s gems. Tourists flock here for the stunning panorama of the sculptured, terraced rice fields framed by a hillside backdrop. Jataluwih is a perfect example of traditional rice farming and as pleasant as it is to visit, it is also better to enjoy the cool air by walking through the many paths joining the paddies. For me, this is the most enjoyable experience a person could experience and, especially late afternoon when the light winds tease the rich-green rice plant stalks and the cool mist descends from above the surrounding hillsides. If walking through the ricefields is not your thing, then a walk along the road leading from the old Café Jataluwih into the small village is just as beautiful. Most of the tourist buses have departed by mid-afternoon and this is the most serene time of all.

Ooty

An important and Interesting Tourist spot of Tamilnadu. Also located here is one of the best orchidariums in the country.

Hogenakkal Falls From Heven

Hogenakkal At A Glance

You get the feel of the river running nearby when you enter the sanctuary enclosing Hogenakal waterfall. Suddenly, there is plenty of vegetation and little habitation, the road keeps going down and down into the valley indicating the probability of finding a river. A 15 minute of quite drive into the forest leads you to a busy and noisy village(or call it a marketplace) or Hogenakkal.

The real action begins with the boatmen, even before you get to see the waterfall. You realize that you need a coracle to go there, and approach the boatmen expecting to pay may be a 20, 30 or 50 rupees. You would be in for a big surprised when they ask you for a 500! Heavy bargaining can bring it down considerably but they are pretty smart businessmen and they know you wont go back easily after coming this far!

This is another big waterfall on the Kaveri river after Shivanasamudra. Though not as high as the earlier one, it is equally magnificent, with the river falling into a narrow gorge in several bursts of water. There is no wide open space where you can stand and watch the fall; you need to hire a coracle and get right into the gorge to be able to see it. The boatmen can take you really close to the falling water, sometimes to make the water splash into you if you wish. River here is only a little wider than Mekedatu but much mellow, flows through a narrow channel surrounded by rocks on both sides which are carved into strange shapes by the river. Boatmen say water is probably a 100 feet deep here. The channel looks lovely and the rocks look as if they were carved by an artist!

There are many such bursts of water in Hogenakkal.

Another attraction are local kids who can show you their diving skills, for a fee. They can dive for you from a height of around 30 feet into the water and climb straight up back on the rocks in no time, all for mere Rs.5 from the spectator. There is competition within them and you may be offered a discount! A little downstream to the river is a wide plane where day trippers and picnic crowd spend most of their time, but you don't really find a good shelter anywhere there. Men can attempt a massage offered by the local masseur but is best avoided.

Hogenakkal Water Falls

Accommodation
There are just two places where one can stay overnight - the Tourist Bungalow run by the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (080-2275869, 2275883) and Hotel Tamil Nadu (043425-54447 and 54448).

How To Get There
Air : Nearest airport is Bangalore, 130 km.
Rail : Nearest railhead is Bangalore
Road : Several tourist taxis and buses ply from Bangalore to Hogenakkal. It is a two and a half hour drive to the falls. Road is the fastest and the most comfortable way to get to the falls.

Things To Do
En route to Hogenakkal, stop by at Pennagram, a village where you will come across brightly coloured giant terracotta statues. Referred to as Aiyanars, these are regarded as guardian deities by the villagers. They depict everything from moustached warriors to even a modern day policemen!
Once in Hogenakkal, you can take a coracle ride across the river. The coracles or circular basket boats are covered with buffalo hide or black plastic sheets and ferry tourists across the shimmering, rippling river. The ride will take you to the foot the majestic waterfalls – an exhilarating yet intimidating experience. The water here surges under the coracle, tossing it around, raging and hissing as though it might flood and capsize the boat any moment. The sight of Hogenakkal up close is as spellbinding, imposing and even a bit frightening. This white water fall is particularly impressive soon after the monsoon months when the river is brimming.
Though the boats might seem flimsy on first glance, their basic design has remained unchanged for hundred of years and are in fact quite safe. If you are feeling adventurous, you can even ask your boatman to spin the boat - the experience is akin to sitting on a spinning top.

Once you have had enough of the boat ride and want to calm down your wrecked nerves, try getting a massage from the famed Hogenakkal masseurs. The local malishkarans or the mystic masseurs are armed with oils, powders and esoteric knowledge about the different massage points in the human body and they are good! There are also a few women masseurs.

If you plan to stay longer than a day, you can take long treks in the surrounding Melagiri Hills and explore the lush, rugged, landscape.
